Valentine's Day

On Valentine's Day my family had to say good-bye to one of the loves of our lives, Sexy Memaw. My Memaw was a strong, beautiful, and inspring woman. She amazed us and doctors at how she fought pulmonary fibrosis. Finally, Jesus let her fight her final war with pain and took her to be "home" with Him and reunited with our Pappy.

We all miss her daily. We've found healing and comfort in sharing our "Memaw Memories," and have created a family facebook page to talk to stay in closer contact with one another. It's been a nice and comforting outlet to share a random memory or picture that we come across.

One day I was looking through pictures of Memaw. Miles came to me with a picture of Memaw and clearly he said "Meee--maw!" I didn't know if I wanted to smile or cry. That moment overwhelmed me with joy that Miles in his short life recognizes Memaw and sadness that he won't get to see her again for a long time. I just hugged him tight and said Memaw loves you so much buddy. You brought her great joy. I'll continue to tell him that for the rest of his life!

Some days are harder than others, but peace fills my heart that she is finally at home with our King!

About Miles

I realized that I've updated pictures, but not much on Miles himself!
He has become quite the personality. He is very smart and has the most contagious and beautiful smile. He is mostly happy, but he has a temper when he doesn't get his way!
Miles can identify most animals. Anytime a dog barks he says "HUSH." I ask him what sound does the dog make and all he'll say is "HUSH!" Oh boy!
He can count to 20 assisted. And, he can count to 6 in Spanish. I've heard him get to 7, but usually 6 is his cut off. He says, cwat-ro for 4. It is soooo stinkin cute!
Colors are coming along slower than numbers. He calls everything Yeww-oooo! I guess that will come soon enough.

Miles LOVES to shoot hoops. He can identify the basketball and will say "shoot." He likes for Brent and I to participate. I suck at basketball so I think he does it to laugh at me ;) I try anyway, before too long I might not get asked to participate for my lack of skills!!! HA! Since his Gramma got him a bball goal for Christmas it is set up in our Living Room until the cold weather makes its exit. We shoot frequently during the day!

He has started FINALLY eating better. He loves beans. I told Brent, that is not my child, LOL. I hate beans. I'll eat green beans and that is it. I try other beans, but YUCK! Miles has been putting down butter beans and black eye peas by the handfuls! He loves grapes, nanas, mandarin oranges, peaches, and recently I got him to eat some pears. I'm still trying really hard to keep it mostly healthy! Now that he knows about gummy bears, air heads, and dum-dums... It has been more of a struggle. He knows where they are kept since his stocking was crammed full! And, he'll go point to the bowl where his candy is. Glad this didn't happen before Halloween! And, pray for me for the next one!

Miles is always on the move. He can run pretty fast. In a foot race the other day he almost beat a 3 year old. I was one proud mama! Oh when sports start I'll have to make sure to keep it dialed back! Although, when he makes it in the hoop he wants mama and daddy clapping and cheering for him!

Alright that's enough for now.

And, I thought this was so sweet. I got him to hold Mickey while we watched Mickey Mouse. It didn't take long before he tossed him in the floor, but I got a picture first!!!!

2013 Reading

I'm way ahead of myself this year! I've already read 2 books! I have to be careful not to jinx myself... I may be recapping 2013 with a total of 2 books read if I'm not careful! I am going to try to read books while Miles naps vs watching re-runs of Gilmore Girls or the 3rd hour of The Today Show :)

So far I read Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn and Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks. Both were thrillers and I couldn't put either down. The Gone Girl book was really really good, but the language was awful. Safe Haven was a little different from Sparks' usual and I loved the "danger" element he added.

Hopefully, I'll be able to do more book updates this year. I just found some Joshua Graham stuff. He is a Christian writer. I am going to try out 2 of his books. (One was free for my Kindle so if I don't like it I just wasted my time not my money ;)!)
