8 months

I'm sooo late! In 2 weeks it will be 9 months.

The 8th month, I would call it the curious month! Miles likes to explore everything. Mostly, from his hands to his mouth. He started "scooting" this month. He mostly pulls himself with his arms. He LOVES to jump! So much so that we bought him a jumperoo that sits on our floor with springs in it. I'll have to post the video of him jumping in it. It's pretty funny! Eating solid foods like crackers, shredded cheese, bread, any of the Gerber graduate finger foods (he LOVES the Veggie Dip cheeto things!)

He's growing leaps and bounds. Changing a diaper is a chore! He loves to roll and turn over to see what's going on all around. If Miles wakes up unhappy in the morning all we have to do is show him Rudy or Tank, instantly he is a happy boy! He loves those dogs! Rudy loves him, and well Tank is warming up to him!

I had to be careful not to put 9 month things in this post. That's what I get for being such a procrastinator! I need to also go back and put up some pictures from his 1st Thanksgiving. If I don't keep up with this blog I'll completely forget everything!!!

Merry Christmas

Miles' first Christmas was so much fun! Santa didn't get his fudge because Rudy ate it all :/ A fun story to tell Miles when he gets older! Miles, of course, racked up!!! Daddy and Mommy are still very overwhelmed by all his goodies!! If I had to guess his favorite gifts are.. the cell phone adadada (daddy) got him OR the dancing dog that Gramma got him. Still if given all his toys from Christmas and a plastic clothes pin, he'd choose the clothes pin anyday! I have a feeling that is all about to change!!! Enjoy a few pictures from our first Christmas with a child, and, probably the most fun we've had at Christmas since we were children ourselves!

First Rebel Hoops Game

I tried to do better at pictures of his first Ole Miss basketball game (at getting pictures)! Miles did so good. His first game was against Miami on 11-25-11, the Friday after Thanksgiving. The game was at 3:00. We got there and went to buy tickets and this guy standing at the ticket office door handed Brent one and said just an extra, then this student walked by and said, oh here I have an extra too! So, Miles your first game didn't cost us a dime!
Ole Miss started out like a house on fire outscoring Miami 17-0. It didn't last long as we had to come back and beat them in OT! It was a great game!

Any Rebel victory is a great game!

Sleepy Boy...

It was apparent that Miles had not gotten all his sleep out this morning. He woke up at 6:00 so we decided to go ahead and feed him. After his bottle, he cried and cried... So Brent fed him his cereal, between cries. I got dressed in a hurry so I could tend to him. I held him real tight and snuggled up with him and he passed out. Poor baby needed more sleep. At about 7:20 I realized that I needed to crank the car. 30 degrees is too cold to put a baby into a car! So I threw a few pillows in the floor, the ones we use to make sure Miles doesn't bump his head on the legs of the table in the living room, ... and wah-la! I waited as long as I could to leave trying to give him as much time as I could to sleep. Fortunately, he slept when I put him in the car, and was still soundly sleeping when I had to leave him :( It's one of those days where I wish I could call in and spend my day with him! (Well, actually that's everyday!)

7 months

So, I'm a little delayed on our 7 month stats! Only everything has changed, of course!

Stats:
*19 lbs 2 oz
*Size 3 diaper
*mostly wearing 6, 6-9, and an occasional 12 if it runs small.

~Not crawling yet, but can manage to get where he needs to go via "the roll!" He is trying, he can get his whole booty up in the air... he just hasn't quite put all the pieces together yet, but it won't be long!
~He can pull himself up!
~As for talking, just the adadadada, that I've grown to love. He has gotten to where he will mimick some words. Got a WOW out of him this morning. It was crystal clear, but a one time only show apparently!

Fun tidbits:
+Miles loves to be thrown into the air.
+He likes for mama to swing him by his arms.
+Jumping on the bed makes him laugh so hard, but wears us out! (starting a bad habit, mabye, but it'll be okay!)
+The boy has hand eye coordination. I can sit and toss a ball up and down and catch it, he will watch it for a while. He loves playing with these long spoons (we don't use for feedings) but he will take them and bang them on his toys.

Other:
-Starting to see signs of separation anxiety.
-Had RSV this month.
-Got another tooth on its way in.
-Can't get a full night in crib, wants to be held :/

Doctor Office Adventure

I'm playing catch up all at one time b/c we've had a sick baby on our hands. He has remained his "happy baby" self, but his breathing wasn't quite right so I took him to the doctor. Brent asked me a few times... Are you sure you don't want me to go. I told him no, I could handle it. Well, I did... It was a mini adventure, We had to go as a "walk-in" which they only take from 7:30-8:30. So Miles and I were sitting in the car waiting when they opened the door. I got him out of his seat and grabbed his bag and got our names on the list 2nd. (they only see the first maybe 8 people, i couldn't take any chances!) We got back there and they had to clean his ears, MAD baby, then they looked in the ears, MAD baby... he was okay while she listened to him breath... then she did the swab in his nose, MAD baby. Are you seeing a pattern. Miles tested positive for RSV. Did I know what that was, UM negative! The doctor (not our regular doctor) asked me haven't you read about it, I politely said NO, could you just tell me about it. I wanted to say... LOOK dont' make me feel like a bad parent, there is enough crap to read about to keep me busy until he's a teenager. That's what you're here for! I refrained, she's lucky Miles had just given me a full night of rest! So she gives me the low down and then explains we'll be doing breathing treatments. *sigh* We did one in the office, Miles cried so hard that I had to bounce him to sleep. We were there from 7:30 until 9:00. So... we're at breathing treatments every 4 hours, antibiotics 2x for ear infection, dimetap every 4 hours for cough, and plenty of fluids! A sick baby is a lot of work! I'm ready for his wheezing to be gone! I had sooo much fun that Brent gets to do the follow up visit, which will likely be a piece of cake! ha! You'll learn my luck=the best!

First Halloween

I hear ya know, the Ole Miss Mascot, laugh it up!

We stayed in this outfit for all of 10 minutes. Miles only got to go to the church fall festival for a few minutes. He was too sick to go to Scare on the Square, and really too sick for the church thing... but it was his first Halloween... So we caved!!!

My first Ole Miss game...

We took Miles to his first Ole Miss home football game!
The Rebels took on #10 Arkansas on October 22, 2011 with an 11:21 a.m. kickoff!

Miles slept through most of the game, and when he wasn't sleeping he was looking around and checking everything out. He did way better than I would have ever thought. We took our own car over just in case of A) a blowout (which with the season we've been having wouldn't have been a surprise) B) in case Miles didn't do well at the game!
At Miles' first game was Uncle Cory, Aunt Kim, Grandma, and Grandpa! I failed to take a lot of pictures b/c my camera battery went dead :( Sorry here are the only 3 I got.

Ole Miss falls to #10 ranked Arkansas by a score of 24-29. I saved an online article about the game so that one day he can read about it for himself!!

I'm going to be an Aunt!!!

My sister, Whitney, and her husband, Chris, are expecting their first child together! My niece/nephew is expected to be here June 2 (so Baby Allen and Miles will only be about 14 months apart!)! Just in time for the Mississippi heat wave! Right now, we're speculating BOY! We still have a long time before we'll know for sure... so right now we're just praying her through all the sick she's feeling. I keep telling her... It's so worth it!

In good times or bad, we are Rebels! Miles was ready for an Ole Miss upset over Alabama! It didn't happen, but that's okay.

Miles didn't go to the game since it started at 5:00. He stayed and spent the day with Aunt Lu. She wore him out, but was sweet enough to keep him awake for us to see him before he went to bed for the night! When he crashed, he crashed hard!



6 Months

Oh my where has the time gone! Do I start every post like that, because I feel like that every time I do a month in review post!

Stats:
*18 lbs 6 oz

*3-6 (almost obsolete), 6, 6-9 month clothes

Fun Facts:
*talking--Miles sounds like he is saying adada and shh a lot!
*he loves to laugh at people who act silly
*still haven't met a stranger
*fights his sleep bad
*finally figured out what to do with his head when he gets on his stomach in the crib
*makes diaper changing more of a challenge, he rolls, holds his feet, and kicks! who needs easy anyway!
*makes the most hilarious face when he goes from a fruit to a vegtable or vice versa! I start laughing so hard that he starts laughing at me!
*loves for mommy to sing e-i-e-i-o. my favorite part is that it's not the same when anyone else does it! (so don't try!)
*if you drink out of a cup around him, you better be ready to share! he throws the biggest fit when you don't!
*we already have a bit of the "brat" syndrome. oh boy!

6 month check-up!

On Miles' 6 month birthday he had a wellness visit! Unfortunately, that meant another round of shots, and a flu shot (I felt so bad for him that I got a flu shot too, so we'd both be getting shots! HA!)  :P We waiting in the doctor's office for what felt like FOR-EVER. We played with Gigi Whitten, and talked to anyone who would listen. What a social little man we have. He was even fun for the doctor, who said he is very healthy! Thank God! Miles is 18 lbs and 6 oz and 25 inches long. Pretty soon we can go to a front facing car seat! I just know that he's going to LOVE that! We also found out we needed to be doing more solid food. So we went from one baby food a day to 5 baby foods a day with only 16 oz of milk a day. Homecoming!

Lauren and Lindsey made it to the homecoming court! YAY! I'm not sure why they keep asking me to do their hair, but they do... and I'm glad! So here are some pictures! They are beautiful girls, inside and out. I'm fortunate to have gotten to spend time with them since they were in 7th grade.

Happy 1/2 Birthday!

I'm sure critics will have their own opinions about whether or not a 1/2 birthday was necessary, but it was such a fun and sweet memory! We went to Jackson this past weekend, and while we were there we celebrated a milestone... 6 months! Was it a YAY Miles is 6 months old or a YAY we made it party, I'm not sure the jury is still out!
