Miles' 6 Week Dr.Visit

We took Miles to his 6 week appointment yesterday! He is now 22 inches long and weighs 12 lbs and 1 oz. He had immunizations for Hepatitis B, Diptheria-Tetanus Pertussis (DTaP), Polio (IVP), Haemophilus Influenza B (Hib). It was awful. He cried so hard. It broke my heart! This morning his little legs were so swollen :( But, he is a very healthy boy and is growing and developing as he should! We talked to the doctor about his constipation issue (which is still unresolved). We are omitting the Karo syrup, instead we are doing 1/2 t. Malox and a dropper full of Mylicon drops 4x a day, and we are still doing apple (or prune) juice undiluted at 2 oz. in the morning and evening. HOPEFULLY, this will do the trick!

Back to Work and Week 6

My maternity leave is officially over as I had to be back at work yesterday! Fortunately, I did not come back to a heaping pile of work. Well, I know some of you are wondering how I did... And, I'm surprised to report to you that I did good. I had one really weak moment right when I left him, but other than that no huge emotional breakdowns, YET (which I was expecting by the way.) I dropped Miles off at Brent's grandparent's house a little before 8. He cried the whole way there and was crying when I left. It was like he sensed what was happening. Brent went and picked him up at 10:00 and took him to school with him. I went to the school, with lunch, at noon and got to hold him for a little while :) God gave me sufficient grace to deal with yesterday. His Word gives us that promise, and yesterday I saw it fulfilled. Thank you to those who prayed for me, those prayers were felt all day.

Miles is still struggling with congestion. We are trying a waterless vapor plug-in, a cool midst humidifier, and saline drops! On top of that he is still having the tummy issues. He has been constipated so last Monday we started 1/2 t. of dark karo in every other bottle, which has helped some but not enough. So... now we are giving him 1 oz. of apple juice (undiluted) in the morning and 1 oz. in the evening. I hope it helps! He slept two nights in a row from 11:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. It has been so nice. He goes for his 6 week check-up this Thursday. I'll be able to give you an update on how much he's grown (which is a lot!!)

This past week we went to Oxford with Andrea S. and Hays and ate lunch with Andrea H. at Soulshine (pretty good pizza!) Miles did ok, I did have to hold him while I ate. We then strolled around the square and enjoyed some time at the children's bookstore! I could spend a fortune in there! We went to see Gigi recieve her teacher of the year award, one day Gigi walked over with her class (from the school) to see Miles, we watched daddy play 2 softball games, went shopping for a wedding gift for Steph, attended the Fellowship of Christian Athletes banquet, bible study on Wednesday, and then to top it off we went to Jackson for the day Saturday to visit family! Brent and I got to go see Whit and Chris' house (Miles couldn't go b/c of the exposed insulation). They have a house with lots of potential, and fortunately Chris has the talent to transform it!

Bumper Cars!

Wednesday was my 6 week checkup with my OB-GYN. Everything checked out good. He gave us a prescription for birth control so that we can space out our children, should we choose to have more than one. (Before you ask... it's too early for us to decide!) And, we set up an appointment for another sugar test to make sure that I am not a true type 2 diabetic. That appointment will be June 22.

Miles will for his 6 week check up next Thursday at 4:00. He will have to get his shots. I hope I can remember his immunization card :/

On a side note... Before I went to pick Brent up to go to my doctor's appointment I was going to swing by Lowe's and look for a plant. I get down the aisle and BOOM some one backs up into our car! It scared me so bad! This guy's trailer hitch smashed right into the middle of my back passenger side tire. It was a very shady situation. He wanted to pay me cash on the spot. Honestly, I didn't feel too comfortable with that so I went ahead and had an accident report written up. I need to make sure that there was no hidden damage!!! Talk about an eventful week before I have to go back to work on Monday :P

Well, that's just a little fyi until my next blog! Brent, Miles, and I are heading to Jackson this weekend to spend time with my family! I'm very excited. Most of my family has only seen him once, and a few people are yet to lay their hands on him. Pray for a safe trip and a good riding baby :)

Week 5

I cannot believe our baby is already 5 weeks old!!! This week we went to Oxford for the day with Andrea and Hays, worked Kids Korner at Springfest, visited Daddy and GrandP.R. at school, played Bunco with the girls (recipe post to follow), and saw Gigi get her teacher of the year award. Miles is really good at moving his head around, those neck muscles are really getting strong. While feeding him last night he started giggling, it was the sweetest sound I've ever heard... Our own child giggling :) On a less fun note, we have been dealing with constipation this week. Errr... We were instructed to put 1/2 a teaspoon of dark karo syrup in every other bottle. We started that yesterday and it is working, slowly but surely! Hopefully it won't hit him all at once!!! This is my last week of maternity leave. I dread Monday. It is bittersweet, b/c Daddy will get to take over Monday. I am glad my transition will be from Mommy time to Daddy time. I know this summer will be special memories that Brent will always be able to reflect on!

Week 4, Oh how time flies!

Well, we are still learning all about our little man. We are feeding him 5 ounces of formula every 4 hours. He has feedings where he doesn't drink it all, and then has spit-ups. It may be back to 4 if that stays up! He is so much more alert and stays awake for longer periods of time during the day. I'm fine with that. I only have a week and 2 days left with him, so I'm not worried about housework or anything else except spending time him. I am treasuring all the time with him that I have. He is so beautiful, I can't imagine going back to work and not being with him all day. :( My deepest desire is to stay home with him and not miss a single moment of his growing up.

Mother's Day!!

My first Mother's Day was so sweet! Brent bought me the most special gift. He bought me a necklace with a pendant engraved with an "M" on one side and 4-11-11 on the other, then had a charm added with Miles' birthstone. It is so special to me :)

Baby dedication was on Mother's Day (see previous post). My family came up and spent the day with us, they took us to lunch, and gave me a sweet Noah's Ark bracelet! That night we went to Brent's parents house for dinner with his parents and grandparents.

Baby Dedication :)

Baby Dedication was Sunday, May 8th (my first Mother's Day!) There were 10 precious little souls dedicated :) Each family was asked to submit a verse special to their family. Brent and I used this verse:

"Because of the LORD'S great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, "The LORD is my portion; thefore I will wait for him."" Lamentations 3:22-24

We decided on this verse because it summarizes the past few years for us. Trying to get pregnant and being unsuccessful so many times left us feeling so many different emotions. But, God is faithful and each day he gave us what we needed so we didn't feel consumed. His grace isn't a "one size fits all." The Lord was enough for us, he filled us daily and individually with what we needed to make it through each day, and waiting on him produced the most amazing blessing (miracle) in HIS timing :)

I was so glad my mom, dad, and sister came up to celebrate with us!!!! Enjoy a few pictures from the dedication!



Week 3

I'm a little behind on my 3 week post. Time is flying by faster than I'd like for it to. Miles is doing good. We are still dealing with gas. I guess instead of diapers we should have requested Mylicon drops :) We have been busy bees lately. Miles got to go to his first South Panola fast pitch softball game and his first SP Baseball game! Both were playoff games, and both were
losses now that I think about it :/Miles got to play with his friends Andley, Anna Carol, and Landon....and he got to visit with Maddox (born 1 week before him), and Ryan (born 1 month before him) this past week. I foresee lots of birthday parties in our future. I might need to start a birthday club fund in addition to our Christmas Club account :) This past week, Miles and I went for a stroll with Andrea and Hays, ate dinner out with Daddy, attended a JA meeting, visited my work,  last Thursday we all went to a cookout at Easton's house, and Miles went to Sunday School for his first time. Everyone said our schedule would slow down.... It didn't! We just do what we did before with a baby! Enjoy some pictures from this past week!!!!

Oh, and I am sooo looking forward to my first Mother's Day!!! I told Brent last night all I want to do is sit and hold our baby all day long without interruptions! Here's to wishful thinking :)
